Preventing Mildew

    Preventing mildew to grow starts with removing the food sources for the mold the mildew grows on. Keeping items clean, dry, and aired out is the best way to prevent molds from growing as well as keeping the old molds from coming back.

    People say cleanliness is next to Godliness. Soil on dirty items can when joined by moisture and temperature be enough food to get mold stared. Kitchen grease that can form slimy residues on the walls can provide many of the nutrients required by molds. Pay attention to the cleanliness of areas such as drawers, closets, cupboards, especially under the sink. Keep these areas as clean as possible.

    Controlling moisture will help in preventing the growth of molds. Check the grout in the blocks in walls of basements repair in cracked or damaged areas and paint the surface with waterproof type coating.
